Short description

Genes in our genome make up the complete blueprint for our cells to work properly. Understanding the structural composition and functions of genes is crucial to find out how genes work and how they cause diseases.

This course covers fundamental research methods for genetic studies. Participants will learn about the structures and functions of genes and genomes, as well as gain hands-on experience in isolating DNA, designing primers, performing PCR, and molecular cloning.

In the biopharmaceutical industry, molecular cloning plays a crucial role in the development of therapeutic proteins, monoclonal antibodies and vaccines. By cloning and expressing specific genes, large quantities of biologically active compounds can be produced for medical treatments, drug discovery and industrial applications.

Participants will gain both theoretical knowledge and practical laboratory experience.

Objectives

  • Acquire a thorough understanding of how genes work.

  • Gain proficiency in performing molecular cloning techniques.

  • Assess the factors affecting the results and to be able to troubleshoot.

Target group

This course is suitable for researchers and laboratory professionals working in biotechnology and related fields.
